DUBAF is a non-governmental, non-profit making, and non-partisan humanitarian organization founded by natives of the Haraqallo area on the 10th of January 2002 (GC). It was originally established by its first name ‘Duba Gololcha Foundation (DGF) in memory of the late Duba Gololcha, however, later on, renamed and legally registered on July 29/2004, at the Ethiopian Ministry of Justice with the name ‘DUBAF’ on acquiring legal identity as a national NGO of Ethiopia.
Since then, it has been regularly re-registered under the Agency for Charities and Civil Societies, as a National Humanitarian Development Organization to operate in the southern half of Ethiopia (Oromia, Somali, Gambella and Southern Nations Nationalities Peoples, and Addis Ababa regional states).
The word 'dubaf' in Afaan Oromo bears two meanings: 'for Duba' and 'for tomorrow (future times, meaning, next-generation)'. But the acronym DUBAF represents Development by Unity and Brotherly Action for the Futures, indicating the commitment of the organization – making lasting positive differences in the life and livelihoods of the next generation.
Over the two decades of its existence, DUBAF has been operating in three regional states in the southern half of Ethiopia: Guji, West Guji, East Shewa, Bale, Borana East, and West Hararge zones of Oromia Regional State; Sidama, Gedeo, and Silte zones of SNNP; and Majang zone of the Gambella regional state.

DUBAF is a non-political, non-racial, non-profit-making, non-religious and non-partisan humanitarian development organization that is dedicated to help the marginalized communities to enable those help themselves for betterment of their economic and social life. The Institutional Mission of DUBAF is making lasting positive difference in the life of marginalized communities through supporting self-help initiatives & promoting indigenous skills.
DUBAF has four strategic objectives:
To ensure protection and conservation of natural resources through strengthening indigenous skills, traditions, norms and values.
Over the past more than two decades of its operations, DUBAF received more than 30 Awards & Certificates at different levels for its successful accomplishments and impact it had in the lives of target communities. It is also honoured by Millennium Cup of Guji zone for its exemplary achievements in the area
